Michael Tann for Greenville City Council – District 5
Safe Streets. Smart Growth. Stronger Greenville.
Every citizen deserves safety, opportunity, and a better quality of life, no matter their zip code, precinct, or district.

Why I’m Running for District 5?
Every citizen deserves safety, opportunity, and a better quality of life, no matter their zip code, precinct, or district.
District 5 deserves a city council member who understands both sides of our community — those in 11A who want to preserve their quality of life that they’ve worked hard for, and those in 12A who deserve the exact same respect, investment, safety, and opportunities.
I’m running to build a stronger Greenville, where smart growth, safer streets, and equitable investment connect every neighborhood. From improving community trust in our police and fixing crosswalks, to building responsibly and hiring locally, we can do better — together.
Mike’s Key Priorities for a Stronger Community
Mike is focused on the issues that matter most to families, businesses, and neighborhoods in Greenville.
1. Safe Streets
Every Greenville resident deserves to feel safe — walking to school, crossing the street, or relaxing at home. That means:
- Supporting neighborhood-based policing where officers know and walk their beats.
- Giving our officers the tools and training they need, while strengthening transparency and communication with the communities they serve.
- Investing in street-level safety: better lighting, speed bumps, safe crosswalks, and sidewalks that serve strollers, wheelchairs, and seniors alike.
- Reducing gun violence through prevention efforts, youth engagement, and smarter collaboration with local partners.
2. Smart Growth
Growth should serve the people, not just developers. I’ll advocate for:
- Responsible development that includes public spaces, parks, and family-friendly designs.
- Infrastructure improvements that address flood zones, promote environmental sustainability, and protect our city’s future.
- Policies that prioritize hiring local Greenville residents for construction, city contracts, and new economic opportunities.
3. Stronger Greenville
A stronger city begins with equity and accountability:
- Collaborating across districts to ensure no neighborhood is left behind.
- Listening to residents when setting priorities for our city’s budget and future.
- Creating opportunities for all residents to thrive through community development, small business support, and inclusive planning.
